Shalimar Kennel is a small kennel based out of Sunny Port Orange Florida. It was established in February 1970 in upstate New York by my mom Magda Price. My mom was a top poodle handler in the early 1970’s.  She started her lines with Miniature poodles.  She acquired her lines from breeder Peter Federico “Berita Mini’s”, then moved to Toy’s, which came from “Ardynas’ Lines”,  breeders  Gene and George White.  Finally then started her standard  lines from “Janard  Standards”.  I was born in January 1973, I was raised around the show circuits, I became a undefeated junior handler in the mid 1980’s. I fell in love with poodles when I was a little girl and my passion for the amazing breed grew as I got older. My mom taught me how to groom poodles when I was a junior handler, along with basic grooming, and coat care, this was my job. As my passion for showing and the breed grew, and so did my knowledge. Poodles and dog shows became my activity and my main focus.  It seems like it was yesterday, but it was like 20 something years ago!  As a teenager I was fortunate to work side by side with my mom as being a top handler, and also to have the opportunity to work with Alan Waterman and Gina Weiser. How I thank so much for teaching me more about Poodles and handling. My mom retired in the late 1990’s due to disabilities, we relocated from Up State New York to Florida. I then took over where my mom left off.  I became a groomer and opened my own groom shop in Ormond Beach in 2000. I continue to show and breed poodles. I strive to produce the best and healthiest dogs possible for ourselves and others.  Shalimar Kennels offers Natural care, Conditioning and Presentation for poodles and select other breeds. I’m very selective on the poodles I show, and who I show for.  I’m very fortunate to have had the opportunity to show some amazing Toys from Mickey Kern  “ Newmont Toy Poodles” and Tawnya Bobst “ Tantalite Toy Poodles.  Also to Kay Palade Peiser for the chance to own and show an amazing Standard Poodle. “Kaylen’s A Night On The Town” Watch for her in the shows in summer 2009. Thank you all so much for believing in me!  To All my other very close poodle breeder/ handler friends; You all are amazing and have been an inspiration to me.  You all have taught me so much, I feel like I’m learning new things daily and striving to be the best!   I will continue to learn and grow, Thank You all so much!

I live in Port Orange, FL with my wonderful Fiancé Phillip Gauthier and son Austin.
They both are very supportive of my passion for poodles and dog shows.  They are my biggest fans.

Just recently I learned and fell in love with my second breed, Chinese Crested. Thanks to my very close friend for life Amy Rutherford (ALTACREST CRESTED’S) for giving me the opportunity to learn and love a new breed.  “Shimmer” my first Chinese crested hit the show ring in style and beauty. We have received 13 points in a very short time; we took a break so Shimmer could be spoiled and be my house puppy for a couple of months, now in the fall of 2009, we will hit the ring again to finish up our last 2 points. I have continued to learn and love the breed.  Now I co-own with Amy,  my second crested named Ginger (Oliveira-N_Applelou Crème De La Crème)!  Thank you Luis of Oliveria Crested’s for trusting me and giving me the opportunity for another wonderful powder-puff crested.  Watch for Ginger and I in the fall 2009.
