Shalimar Poodles is a small personal kennel based out of Sunny Port Orange Florida. It was established in February 1970 in upstate New York by my mom Magda Price. My mom was a top poodle handler in the early 1970’s. She started her lines with Miniature poodles. She acquired her lines from breeder Peter Federico “Berita Mini’s”, then moved to Toy’s, which came from “Ardynas’ Lines”, breeders Gene and George White. Finally then started her standard lines from “Janard Standards”. I was born in January 1973, I was raised around the show circuits, I became a undefeated junior handler in the mid 1980’s. I fell in love with poodles when I was a little girl and my passion for the amazing breed grew as I got older. My mom taught me how to groom poodles when I was a junior handler, along with basic grooming, and coat care, this was my job. As my passion for showing and the breed grew, and so did my knowledge. Poodles and dog shows became my activity and my main focus. It seems like it was yesterday, but it was like 20 something years ago! As a teenager I was fortunate to work side by side with my mom as being a top handler, and also to have the opportunity to work with Alan Waterman and Gina Weiser. How I thank so much for teaching me more about Poodles and handling. My mom retired in the late 1990’s due to disabilities, we relocated from Up State New York to Florida. I then took over where my mom left off. I became a groomer and opened my own groom shop in Ormond Beach in 2000. I continue to show and breed poodles. I strive to produce the best and healthiest dogs possible for ourselves and others. Shalimar Kennels offers Natural care, Conditioning and Presentation for poodles and select other breeds. I’m very selective on the poodles I show, and who I show for. I’m very fortunate to have had the opportunity to show some amazing Toys from Maureen Windham LAURELBURY Kennels Who has bred over 120 Champion Toy poodles. Maureen’s Toys are in my eyes the best toys in the united states. Sheena Wascom Of Leveau Toy Poodles. Thank you so much for the chance with Midgie. They both are very supportive of my passion for all my dogs and my dogs I show. They are my biggest fans. Sometimes they don’t understand but they do love all the dogs in my care.
Just recently I learned and fell in love with my second breed, Chinese Crested. Thanks to my very close friend for life Amy Rutherford (ALTACREST CRESTED’S) for giving me the opportunity to learn and love a new breed. “Shimmer” my first Chinese crested hit the show ring in style and beauty. She finished her championship and now is just one of the children we love and Own.
My Latest Love and has always been my second choice to a standard poodle by far is The Afghan hound. There Beauty , style and personality is outstanding. Threw my Journey of dog shows, I’ve had the chance to meet an Amazing Person who I’ve grown to Love and call one of my true friends. Xzotika Afghans Jarnell Carter. He has in years bred some amazing dogs, that I fell in Love with. Lily was my first Afghan I had the chance to show. Jarnell bred Lily, and she was my learning dog. We won 5 points , and Lily lived with me for months. She was so beautiful and easy to please. I do miss my Lily. Lily returned back to the farm to grow more coat and she’ll be back. I have the wonderful chance to own a amazing Afghan with Jarnell. His Name is Buster. Xzotika’s Smooth Criminal. You can watch for Buster hitting the show circuit in January 2012.
